Inspire Me - Fall Mantles { St. Charles, MO Photography }

Have you dressed your mantle for Fall?  We dressed ours yesterday and we love it!  I know it isn't the most designer inspired, but it's such a nice and refreshing change.  The little ceramic trio of spookies was my fun yard sale find of the last few months!  I bought all three for 75 cents!  (And my daughter just loves them, they are so fun & happy to look at.)   I pull items from all over the house when I'm changing the mantle...I'm always surprised at what I didn't like in one place I love in another.  (Drives my poor engineering minded hubby absolutely mad, but he is a trooper through it all.)
If you have dressed yours for Fall, please SHARE IT with me on my facebook page posting (it has the same photo, just comment with your photo under this one.)  I LOVE to see others and get inspired!

Tis Soccer Season!

Her first year of soccer and she seriously loves it!  Unfortunately she takes after her momma a *lot* and does a little dance around the ball once she gets to it.  But we are trying to overcome that and get her a bit more aggressive on the field than her mother was.  Most important, she LOVES it!

To Bee or not to Bee ... {St. Charles Photographer}

Here are some photos from an interesting challenge I participated in with a photography group.  It was a macro challenge with bugs as the subjects.  I tell you what, I have a newly found awe of these little creatures I once though of as "icky."  Except the fly...he is still unfortunately more "icky" than ever now that I've seen him up close.

Even though they don't necessarily qualify as macro, these are some of my favorites that resulted from the challenge.  :)

This little fella is about 1/8".  VERY teeeeny little thing.
Same teeeeny little guy.  The flower bud is the 1/2 the size of my pinky nail.

We were a little close for comfort, but it was worth it.  Who knew they were so intricate?
And for the fly....scroll down if you must.

The hairs on the forehead.  The hairy hole of a mouth.  Those nose slits?
Creeps.  Me.  Out.  Go scroll back up, to the happy and pretty things.  :)

52 Fridays {old & new}

Assignment was Old & New.  While the photo is supposed to be taken the week of the assignment, this winter weather has frozen my creative flow so I dug these dandelions out of an old file box. BUT, but, but...the editing is all fresh today (Saturday).  So the photo is a year early and the editing is day late...story of my life. :)  But it turned out well, also the story of my life. :)

52 Fridays

I have joined a fab group of women photographers and they have created a project where we post photos to eachother every Friday.  I love it.  It so encourages me to get shooting in areas that make me think and that I would normally not shoot.

Example, the below black and white image (that I think resembles a womans' figure) is a rosebush stem covered in ice from our recent bout of snow.  I never would have thought to capture this and therefore would have missed out on what I think is a really beautiful image.  I love the challenges!
